Food fermentation basics

About this course

After many requests, we are pleased to launch our beginners' fermentation courses. This practical learning course will guide you through the preparation and process of creating sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, fermented pickles and fermented sauces.

All equipment will be provided to use on the day and you will go home with your own creations to finish fermenting at home.

While this won't be a foraging-based fermenting course, it will give you inspiration and ideas one where to include foraged ingredients in future.

After this course you will be able to

  • understand the process to make a selection of fermented foods

  • create basic fermented foods yourself

  • use fermentation recipes more effectively

  • choose ingredients to enhance your ferments with better understanding

These sessions are ideal for those starting out in fermentation, or those who are nervous about making their own fermented foods.
